Company Member

Weaving organic movement processes with philosophical discourse, Kya’s performance work is devoted to evoking visceral experiences and building compassionate conversation about what it is to be human in modern society. She originally trained as a gymnast and began dancing under the instruction of her mother, Dana Bliss, at the age of sixteen. She continued her studies at the Five College Consortium in Amherst, Massachusetts and went on to dance internationally through the Arts Umbrella Graduate Program with choreographers such as Lelsie Telford (NDT), Emily Molnar (Ballet BC), Roberto Campanella, and Jose Navas. Upon moving to Portland, she worked with Heidi Duckler creating site specific pieces while also freelancing and pursuing a career in the healing arts. She now resides in Los Angeles and works globally in connection with Villa Capri.
